Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit!

This is going to be a blog post for all you beginners in makeup out there! I'm going to take you through a starter kit I put together from the drug store with all the basic makeup products. You don't need to use all of these products when starting out in makeup, you might only want some concealer and mascara! I'm going to show you basically everything for people who want to know. Enjoy!

Foundations

My two all time favourite drugstore foundations are the Rimmel Match Perfection and the L'Oreal True Match. I'd say the L'Oreal foundation has more coverage so if you're not sure whether you like full coverage or little coverage, have a go at the Rimmel one!

Concealers

I am obsessed with these concealers! The Collection Lasting Perfection is a really full coverage, creamy concealer. People don't like to use it under their eyes but I really do! If it doesn't work under your eyes, then use it on spots or blemishes. If you want something different under your eyes, the Rimmel Wake Me Up is a good choice as it's very brightening.

Pressed Powder

This is hands down the best powder and basically the only one you need. Everyone I know uses this and it's pretty much amazing. It's the Rimmel Stay Matte and it's so cheap, only about £4

Blush

I think this is a really good blush to start with as it's got 4 different shades you can choose from. Instead of buying four different blushes, with the Collection Shimmer Shades Quad you get 4 in 1!

Bronzer

Now, if you're starting out in makeup you don't NEED to use bronzer but it really gives dimension, depth and shadow to the face. The MUA Bronzed Perfection is a really good one to start off with

Highlighter

This certainly isn't a must but I love highlighters. The Technic Highlights is a very good dupe for the Benefit High Beam. The packaging is exactly the same, as is the colour and consistency. If you're not willing to pay the price of Benefit products, invest in this!

Eyebrow Pencil

Even if you are just starting out in makeup, I really think doing your eyebrows is a huge must. Your makeup look really doesn't look finished until you've done your eyebrows. There's loads of good drugstore eyebrow products but this one from Primark is cheap and affordable. It only costs about a pound

Eyeshadow

For eyeshadow, I don't really have cheap or drugstore palettes, but these 2 single eyeshadows are great. If you want a normal powder eyeshadow then this peach/pale one from Makeup Gallery is great. If you're looking for one with more colour, this crayon from Rimmel Scandaleyes is amazing, I love this product!

Eyeliner

I found 3 different kinds of eyeliners you could use. If you're starting out in makeup and don't really know what kind of eyeliners you like, try one of these three. I really love the Maybelline Master Kajal Eyeliner as a pencil eyeliner. My all time favourite gel eyeline is the one from Collection. My holy grail pen eyeliner is the Rimmel Scandaleyes.

Mascara

These are two of my favourite mascaras. I live by the Maybelline The Falsies and I'm constantly re-purchasing it! It's a really great starter mascara and I highly suggest you invest in it. Another good mascara is the L'Oreal Miss Manga!

Lipstick

Two great lipsticks to start with is nudes and pinks. My favourite nude is the Kate Moss 113, it's really nice and not too in your face. It also looks amazing on any skin tone. A good affordable pink lipstick is from the brand Constance Carroll!

My Dry Shampoo Recommendations!

If there's one product I love the most, it's dry shampoo. It's the perfect product in times of need and there is such a variety, so there is one to suit everyone. I'm sure most of you know about these brands and products and the majority of you will own one!

My favourite brand for dry shampoo is Batiste. It's an affordable drugstore dry shampoo and there is so many available. Also, they're not hard to find and they're probably local to you.  Then, Ruth Crilly from YouTube brought out her own dry shampoo brand and I've been loving it! Maybe even more than Batiste...

Her brand is called CO Lab and she has a range of bottles, all named after cities. I bought the RIO one, which is a tropical fragrance as RIO is one of my favourite places in the world! I am yet to try any of her other products from this collection.

My two favourite Batiste dry shampoos are Tropical and Blush. These scents are, personally, the nicest and I haven't tried many others. When using this product, you can get some white leftover residue so spray it from a distance into the roots and use your fingers to rub through the scalp.

Both of these brands give amazing volume to the hair and leave it feeling refreshed. If you have any other dry shampoo recommendations, comment below as I love trying new ones out!

TRESemme As A Brand!

I've always loved TRESemme as a brand, they have amazing products and are usually very affordable. They can be found in local drugstores like Boots or Superdrug. I've also seen many hairdressers use this brand alot.

One of my favourite products from this brand is the Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray. This hairspray is amazing at holding your hair in place all night and doesn't make it go too crispy as some do.  I have quite a big bottle of this and it will last you such a long time! Use this for nights out partying, dinner dates or even through the day if you have a beautiful up-do. Anyone can use this and I'm sure it'll work the same for everyone.

My other favourite product from this brand is the Heat Defence Styling Spray. This is a heat protect spray and is probably my all time favourite one to use along with the John Freida one. I think this is a necessity for anyone who uses heat on their hair quite often. As someone who straightens their hair everyday, I need one of these nearby at all times. This is quite a fat and big bottle too so it will last a long time and you don't need to be constantly buying new ones.

If you haven't tried anything from this brand before, you need to head out and buy something, maybe even one of these products that I mentioned. Let me know in the comments what your favourite TRESemme product is!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas!

It's coming up to Mother's Day! The one day of the year you can treat your mum without any excuse and pamper her to bits! It's also one time where most people. like me, have to idea what to get them! I'm really bad at buying my mum presents for Mother's Day as I have no idea what to buy most years. Here are some little ideas for gifts you can buy!

1. Perfume

If you know what you're mothers favourite perfume is, then buy her some! Or just some she might like. It's a common present but I think it's an easy but nice one to get. It makes it alot easier if you know what scents she likes too.

2. Jewellery

Get her some jewellery! I think jewellery is such a beautiful and sentimental present and you can't really go wrong. It can be gold, silver or bronze and can range between necklaces, earrings or rings. I'm sure most mothers wear jewellery so this is a lovely gift idea.

3. Skincare

Your mum may not be into the beauty side of things but maybe she likes skincare. If she does, it would make a nice present and she'd probably love it! Take note of what products she likes and what brands, see what she's running out of and maybe experiment a little by getting her a few of your recommendations!

4. Haircare

If she doesn't like beauty or skincare, she might be interested in haircare! Have a look at what she already owns, see what she is into and think outside of the box. There are so many hair products and brands out there, so pick wisely!
